Informed Sport Partners with iNADO

Informed Sport Recognised by iNADO

LGC has signed a two-year partnership with the Institute of National Anti-Doping Organisations (iNADO) to further promote global sports nutrition testing programme Informed Sport to the world’s sports and anti-doping community.

As part of the agreement, LGC will attend and provide information on Informed Sport at the 2016 and 2017 iNADO Workshops and deliver webinars to iNADO’s worldwide membership on the most effective ways athletes can minimize the risks related to sports nutrition.

iNADO’s 2016 Workshop takes place at the Palais de Beaulieu in Lausanne, Switzerland on March 13, and it is the second year in succession that Informed Sport has been present at this gathering of the world’s anti-doping organisations.

“The risks of supplements continue to catch the unwary. All National Anti-Doping Organisations (NADOs) need a clear strategy for helping their athletes and athlete support personnel manage those risks. Informed Sport provides a number of NADOs with such a strategy. It is the sort of science-based service that helps to protect clean athletes and clean sport,” said Joseph de Pencier, CEO of iNADO.

Informed Sport is the most rigorous testing programme available to the sports supplements industry, and is based on two fundamental pillars of quality assurance: a robust audit of the manufacturing processes, followed by the testing of every batch before a product is released to market.

“Informed Sport is already recognised and supported by a number of NADOs and through our partnership with iNADO we will continue to share information on how athletes can avoid inadvertent doping through the use of contaminated supplements,” said Terence O’Rorke, Director of Business Development at LGC.

“The use of supplements is commonplace amongst elite athletes, but they need to know there can be risks associated with this and how best to minimise these risks. We are very encouraged that an organisation such as iNADO recognises the value that Informed Sport has to athletes, sport and the anti-doping community across the world.”
