INFORMED-SPORT

INFORMED-SPORT is a supplement testing programme, designed to test supplements and/ or their ingredients for inadvertent contamination with substances prohibited in sport.

Research has shown that some supplement products have been found to be contaminated with low levels of steroids and stimulants that are prohibited by WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency. The INFORMED-SPORT programme aims to work closely with supplement manufacturers and suppliers by providing high quality analytical testing to minimise the incidence of banned contaminants finding their way into sport.

Anyone choosing to use supplements can be assured that products bearing the INFORMED-SPORT logo have undergone rigorous quality testing.

WHY ARE TESTS NECESSARY?

Responsibility for the quality of a product rests entirely with the manufacturer. Reputable manufacturers do everything in their power to keep their supplements pure. However, even trace levels of contamination can have significant consequences and this requires a sensitivity of testing way beyond routine quality control systems.

The INFORMED-SPORT standard provides a defined specification to both manufacturers and consumers based on the very best scientific expertise and brings reassurance that products bearing the INFORMED-SPORT logo can be trusted.

The following organisation supports the INFORMED-SPORT programme:

British Athletes Commission
